MP for Newcastle North, Catherine McKinnell has posted her view of the Newcastle Gateshead One Core Strategy on her web site. In short, she is opposed to new development on greenbelt land and would like to represent resident’s concerns. You can read the full opinion on her web site by clicking here.
Catherine is holding a series of constituency advice surgeries on Friday 2nd December at the following locations:
12.00pm: The Lemington Centre
1.15pm: Brian Roycroft Centre, Newbiggin Hall
2.30pm: Fawdon Community Centre
She is also inviting local residents to join her at a drop-in coffee morning, to discuss any issues of concern. This will be held from 10.30am-12pm on Saturday 3rd December at the Simonside Community Centre, Bedeburn Road in Newbiggin Hall.
A packed hall at Walbottle School was the venue for a consultation meeting on Monday 28th. The “Usual Suspects” were on the top table, including Cllr. Murison, Harvey Emms and Nicola Woodward (both of the latter, senior planning officers.)
As they have got the format off to a tee now, they try to move it along like clockwork. There will be a demonstration at the next full council meeting at the Civic Centre on Dec 7th between 5.15pm and 6pm. The last time this happened we managed to get the period of consultation lengthened considerably, and we hope to make a big impression this time. Can you please print and post up the attached Flyer somewhere? Certainly the press will be there and maybe TV so please come.
Objection letters should be sent BEFORE 4th January 2012 to Planning, Gateshead Council, Freepost NEA 3381, Gateshead NE81 1BR.
Use these suggestions to frame comments – they need not all be used and can be expanded to make any point more fully.

A huge increase in population and car usage would place enormous strain on infrastructure such as roads.
